Kayaking at Cedar Key

Cedar Key is a kayaking paradise.  There is an extremely vast ecosystem to explore while it’s shallow, protected water make it navigable by kayak most of the time.  Today was an absolutely beautiful day for kayaking at Cedar Key.

The above shot shows how calm the water is much of the time…

This was shot from a different angle.  The Old Fenimore Mill condominiums are prominent in the background.  It illustrates the compressing effect of a long telephoto lens.   The image was captured at a focal length of 210MM on a DSLR camera.  Although it doesn’t look like it,  the kayaker is 3/4 of a mile from the condos.

This is the same scene captured at a focal length of 100MM.

When the same (approximate) scene is captured at 28MM the perspective is greatly expanded.
