A collection of beautiful sunrise images captured at Cedar Key, Florida.

A photo from a resident of Cedar Key

My poem solicitation has generated a fair amount of interest from visitors to this site.  I received the following note from a resident of Cedar Key.

Hi Steve.

Came across this picture I took of the Thomas Guest house while searching some old ones.  Thought you might like it, but have no idea if the quality is good enough.

Tina manages the Natures Landing Condos and is someone that I personally know.  I really like this image that she captured in August of 2004.    Even though it could easily be a sunset shot, it is actually a sunrise.   Most visitors to Cedar Key who like to take walks are very familiar with this vantage point.

As can be seen in the next blog-post, the walls of the structure have almost completely collapsed since then.

Sunrise at low Tide

Low tide in Cedar Key during sunrise created an opportunity to get some unique shots this morning…

I think the following shot includes just about every Cedar Key Black Skimmer…   As I slowly walked closer to them it was comical seeing all of them aligned and looking at me…     When the tide is in these birds spend a fair amount of their time sitting in the middle of the Cedar Key beach, so they are quite accustomed to people.

Beautiful Sunrise in Cedar Key

An absolutely beautiful sunrise this morning…    The water was smooth as silk, the air clear and the sky beautiful shades of pink and blue.

These shots were taken at the Cedar Key beach.

The vast majority of the birds in the images are Black Skimmers.    What a beautiful sight it was to see them swirling about in the rising sun just off the beach.

Cedar Key Sunrise

Another fantastically beautiful sunrise over Cedar Key!

This shot was captured at the public beach.  It’s easy to see why the first hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset are called the Golden Hour.

On this particular morning the sky had a solid band of clouds slightly above the horizon.   It wasn’t the sky I was hoping for, but it still presented a nice view to take in.

This is a sequence of shots taken over a 20 minute period.
